He Cares 4 U!

For the past two months I have been able to write my EmpowerMoments with little or no effort but this week was a different story.  I normally say a brief prayer and the words start flowing before Amen, but in honor of Black Music Month we were asked to incorporate a song into each entry making it a bit more difficult.  Even though it did not have to be a gospel song, all I could think of was good ole church music.  That was until one morning I was cleaning the house, listening to Pandora and one of my favorite R&B songs started blasting through the speakers.

Most slow songs cause me to travel down memory lane and think about a past boyfriend but that particular day was different.  The only name that came to mind was JESUS as Aaliyah sung each word so intensely.  I instantly started trying to reprogram my brain and convince myself that “I Care 4 U” was for a man and not Jesus!  I even began to question my Christianity…if I could make this secular song about my Savior, did I really LOVE Jesus like I claimed?

Just as the second guessing began, I had a sudden epiphany… “In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.” (Proverbs 3:6 KJV)  I realized that I was doing exactly what God wanted me to do—finding Him in EVERY area of my life. As the lyrics continued, I looked for the deeper meaning and not just the sultry sounds.  The closer I listened the more I realized that everything that she talks about is everything my Daddy is to me: a confidant, a comforter, a consoler, a counselor, and the list goes on.  It was like He was using her to speak to me. “Can I talk to you? Comfort you? Let you know that I care for you?” Aaliyah may have intended for the song to be about a special person in her life but this song had taken on a whole new meaning for me! It was now Jesus’ and my special love song!

As I continue to deepen my relationship with Jesus, He continues to show Himself in EVERY area of my life.  Worshipping Jesus is not restricted to gospel choirs and praise teams but it can be done through many avenues.  As long as my spirit remains open to receive Him, He can be found anywhere.

Dear Daddy,

Thank You for making Yourself visible everywhere.  Help me to incorporate more of You into my daily living that You may reign forever!  Allow me to conquer my situations and set-ups with You at the forefront.  Lastly, Daddy I ask that You give me the ability to see YOU no matter what the issue so that You can direct my path.  No longer will I place limits on a God that is above all and bestows limitless blessings! In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen!

Ladies, I urge each of you to EMPOWER yourselves and one another to see the Jesus in the situation.  Before calling to get a second opinion talk it over with God and let Him render your diagnosis.  Give Him the opportunity to show you how much He cares for you!

Listen to Aaliyah’s “I Care 4 U” and imagine that God is wooing you!

  1. I’m definitely feeling you on this, because it happened to me a while ago. I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Now, I know I wasn’t going crazy. I thought it was ridiculous, but throughout the entire song, I kept thinking about how wonderful and awesome God had been to me. It caused me to take a praise break, and go into prayer. It was an interesting moment for me. I’m glad this happened to someone else, thanks. WOW….As you grow closer to God, He tends to show up in EVERYTHING.

    1. Tell me about it Gello!! I could not believe that I was feeling this way until God reassured me that He can be found anywhere as long as I am in position to recieve Him. Things like this make me love Jesus more and more each day! So NO you are not crazy just craxy in LOVE… with Jesus!

  2. I had the same encounter once listening to “Dangerously in Love” by Beyonce. Something that stuck out to today was this: “In all of thine ways, acknowledge Him!” Awesome post!

    1. I am so happy that you can relate Kay. Like Gello stated I thought I was crazy at first but it makes me feel good to know that others have similar situations. God is awesome but His mysterious ways never cease to amaze me!

  3. I absolutely love this post. You articulated the exact same feeling I get EVERY time I hear “He Loves Me” by Jill Scott PERFECTLY!! Thank you for this empowermoment, it gave me new perspective 🙂

    1. Katrina, I am sooo happy that you know the feeling I’m talking about! Whenever this happens I am convincined that it is nothing more than my personal encounter with the Lord and I LOVE it!!!!! My feelings for Jesus are so strong that most beautiful ballads are moments for me to embrace the love we share and I can honestly say its the BEST relationship I ever had!!!!!

  4. Good morning Tasha. I woke up this morning listening to my ipod, trying to hear God’s voice, & guess what song did I find HIM???? Teach Me by Musiq. I can relate this song to HIM because I really need God to TEACH me how to Love HIM. THANK YOU FOR THE EMPOWERMOMENT YESTERDAY.

    1. Thanks girl!!! That was a good example… I might just use that one. The wonderful thing about this is that God really will be everywhere as long as you acknowledge him and not some other guy lol! We were brought up to believe that only gospel songs were appropiate and clearly He says otherwise! Thank you Lord!!!!

  5. Tenika…. well wait until you read today’s Empowermoment!!! 🙂

Latasha, God really is using these musical empowermoments to get his word out. I try to see the God in all that I do and I had a similar experience when I wrote the blog for today. Even when we think he isn’t concerned. God really does care all about us….about every little detail.

    1. AMEN Ms. Lundy!!!! I can never put anything pass Jesus because the moment I do He is sure to correct me and force me to break my limits. Nothing better than a good challenge lol! Like you stated this music empowermoments are really touching people in great ways including ourselves.
