Wonderful Change

Continuing the celebration of Black Music Month, I went on a quest for another great song to use as the basis of my EmpowerMoment.  Of course I know plenty of gospel classics and even a few newcomers to the scene, but I wanted something I didn’t know–something that would be just as moving as the other titles in my religious rolodex. I was unsuccessful in my search until my sister made a suggestion.  It was an artist that I knew but I was unfamiliar with the song.  At that point my deadline was approaching fast, so I was open to all recommendations.

I pulled up my handy video resource You Tube and eagerly searched for Jennifer Hudson’s rendition of Wonderful Change.  I watched and  closely as the words spoke to me.  As I allowed myself to get lost in the spirit, I began to think of the many obstacles that I had overcome.  In addition to the events that comprised my personal testimony, things that I had never experienced before began to cross my mind.  I wept over the many challenges faced by the women that I know and love; I envisioned the struggles of complete strangers; I thought about the trials and tribulations encountered by the readers of EmpowerMoments.  My heart instantly felt heavy but as the Dream Girl continued to sing, those feelings were altered to focus on the CHANGE! “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2 KJV)

Even though negative scenarios were running through my mind, I wiped my tears and realized that those were all BEFORE cases!  For once God intervenes the curse is automatically reversed.  There was no reason to get caught up in all the bad things that happened in the past because my Daddy had stepped in and CHANGED it.  The thing to be remember is that He witnesses the mistakes but He governs the wonderful CHANGE.

Dear Daddy,

Thank You for being here to oversee my change.  I now fully understand that the promise has a process and I give You total control.  Continue to nurture me that I may grow to be the virtuous woman that You destined me to be.  Every aspect of my life is an area of opportunity for more of You and I welcome it.  I am excited about OUR future! In Jesus Name, Amen!

Ladies take time to EMPOWER yourself to recognize the wonderful CHANGE that He has made in your life.  Celebrate how far you’ve come even though you aren’t where you should be.  Jesus and I are celebrating your victory, you do not want to be left out!  Have a Blessed Week Ladies!
