Surrender It!

“…Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life…” (Romans 6:13 NLT)

One afternoon I was frantically channel surfing when I ran across a documentary about the life of Oprah Winfrey.  I was instantly glued to the television in hopes of getting a few tips on how to become a millionaire.  By the time the credits began rolling my spirit was in an uproar as if I just left Sunday service.  Oprah seemed to hit the nail on the head with each piece of advice that she dished to viewers while relating it to her own life situations.

The most moving part was when she discussed her expectancy of a role in the movie “The Color Purple.”  She knew deep down in her heart that she was going to be in the film but when she never received the call back from the producers she started to get angry with God.  Instead of letting her anger fester, she decided to SURRENDER it to Him.  The next day she received the call she was awaiting and her career took off from there!

“Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.”  (Job 22:21 NIV)

That one segment of the hour plus special spoke to me on so many levels.  Even though I am still shaping my relationship with Jesus, I have come too far not to be able to let it go unto Him.  Just the other day I was enraged because I found out my apartment complex was raising the rent by over $100!  I went on a tirade, complaining that I barely can pay my rent now, not to mention an increase that large.

Ladies, that is exactly what the enemy wanted me to do–feel defeated so that he would have a way in to steal, kill, and destroy.  Just like Oprah, I had to surrender it to God.  We all must come to a point where we no longer gripe about things that are out of our control but instead we should take that energy and press into God’s kingdom.  The instant that we turn it over to Him is when we see a shift in the natural and a blessing is released from above.  The key factor is to remember that God can dream a bigger dream for us as long as we allow Him the chance to.

Dear Daddy,

Please help me to let it go.  When I have done all that I can, help me to give it up to You!  When I feel defeated help me to lay my burdens at Your feet and leave them there.  If I am backed into a corner, help me to submit to You so that getting back on track is a breeze.  Lord, I just ask for the wisdom to know when it is not my battle to fight and the courage to surrender it unto You.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Ladies, take a moment today and EMPOWER yourself to surrender it to God.  Even if we try, we cannot control everything and that is when we have to let it go unto Him.  I am aware that this is not an easy task but what in life really is? I don’t know about you, but if it got Oprah millions I believe it’s worth a shot!! 🙂 Be Blessed!

  1. …..the wisdom to know when it is not MY battle! Yes!!!!! This is were I falter alot of times and this is where I’ll be asking for Daddy’s guidance so he can pour His wisdom into me and let me recognize when the fight is not mine, but His. Thank you Jesus!!!!!! Be blessed!!

    1. Sorry for the late reply Dee… but I am glad that you were able to relate. I have always been the fighter out of my circle of friends… I am always the one to question everything… I am always the voice of the people but then God had to let me know that somethings I am not supposed to concern myself with… We just have to SURRENDER IT!!! B Blessed lady!

    1. Tiffany I apologize for the late reply but I wanted to say thanks ma’am! This is clearly something that I struggle with but the God we serve is working it out! Just remember that somethings really are bigger than you but God is bigger than it! B Blessed!

    1. That is exactly how I felt… DUH LET IT GO!!! Life is always going to be filled with challenges that are going to perplex us in the natural but God has it figured out in the spiritual. I don’t know about you but I LOVE having a behind the scenes business manager- Best investment I ever made was getting on Team Jesus! B Blessed sis!

  2. Tasha I have to remind myself of this often. I THINK I am getting better at it but I definitely do stumble. Sometimes there are just things happening that I do not control and surrendering them to God is the only way to have true peace. Thanks for reminding me that when we truly let go, God wil take over and do his work. Amen.

  3. Well Ms. Lundy having to remind yourself can be seen as a good thing. In my opinion that means that you are so blessed daily that a minor bump in the road seems to be unheard of 🙂 However, when we do get to a point when we are waiting on a reply from God that is when you should surrender it! Allow Him a chance to lead and the path will be smooth for certain. B Blessed!

  4. I’m such an Oprah fan, lol. Not because she has millions, but because of the quiet moments like this one that she shares. When I saw this episode I was inspired to continue to let God lead.

This was beautifully written. It is also my desire to remember this nugget more than “sometimes.”
