Praise The Lord Anyhow!

“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.” Psalm 150:6 NIV

Have you ever been faced with a negative situation or dealt with a person that has the ability to quench your praise? I declare that while you read this message, you immediately receive a breakthrough of boldness to Praise the Lord Anyhow!

Take a good look at this picture. I passed this bed of flowers one day walking around campus. The first thing I noticed was that the flowers were reaching towards the sky. I began to ignite a praise on the inside; I was full of joy and enlightenment. Even the flowers praise God in their beauty, through His glory. As I stood there, looking pretty odd taking pictures of a flowerbed with my cell phone, I noticed the dead flower attached to the two live ones. This spoke volumes to me. Although the two flowers were connected to the dead flowers, they did not allow that to stop their growth, nor their praise. Sometimes we find ourselves connected to people or dead situations where we have to, with all of our might, continue to Praise the Lord Anyhow. Sometimes we are connected to family members, spouses, or even children with dead attitudes, but I encourage you to Praise the Lord Anyhow!

Keep looking at the picture. Look at the flowers to the distant top right. Those flowers are on a mission. Not only are they declaring to PRAISE THE LORD ANYHOW, they have relieved their connection to the dead flower and changed directions. “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14 NIV). The flowers at the top right are not even going in the same direction. Do you need to switch directions to pull away from your crowd to be able to praise the Lord freely, without inhibition?

I’m reminded of the story of David when he danced so hard, he made an outward fool of himself in the eyes of some. The Ark of God was headed to the City of David. This was considered a major reason to praise. (Get this, the ark hadn’t even reached the City of David yet, and David was already praising out of control. This is for another post, but I encourage you to PRAISE HIM even while in PROGRESS.)  Back to the story, David was dancing before the LORD with all his might, “While he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets.  As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she despised him in her heart.” (2 Samuel 6:15-16 NIV)

Michal was David’s wife.  When she saw David praising so hard as to being described as dancing out of his clothes she referred to him as undignified.  “When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”  (2 Samuel 6: 20 NIV). She basically told David that due to the type of praise he displayed, he was being tactless and disrespectful as a king. David replied, “It was before the LORD, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the LORD’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the LORD. I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes.” (2 Samuel 6: 21-22 NIV). David was saying, I will Praise Him Anyhow, even if I look like a fool to you. And not only that, “I may become more undignified than this.”

Dear Daddy,

Help me to continue to reach to You in boldness. Teach me how to praise You while I’m in the pit, the pause, or in progress. Help me to not be restrained when I praise, help me to remember that David praised You even when his wife thought He was being undignified, but for You, it is all worth it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

I EMPOWER you to PRAISE HIM ANYHOW. You may feel unforgiven, sinful, lost, or even unworthy. But David reminds us, to praise Him ANYHOW. Now get up and praise Him! Just as the Ark was “on its way” to the City of David, your breakthrough is on its way! So praise Him in expectancy, just as David did.

If we could only praise him no matter what we are faced with and allow our light’s to shine God will smile and shine down on us. Thank you Lord for this word as well as giving to you to share.

Ms. Dee, if I were there with you, I’m sure we would be running around the building, sometimes just the mention of His name came make me feel so grateful that I burst into an uproar!

Sonja, how did you know, (haha). I’m glad you were blessed by it!

  5. Kay, as I was adding categories and tags to your post I realized that we didnt have a praise/worship category. That means that we’ve never talked about just praising Him. (so embarrassed) Thanks for this post and reminding us just to honor Him for who He is regardless of whats going on.

O magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt His name together!!!!!

    1. I thought “But It’s Okay Now” would have been a praise tag.

It’s all good, we are growing so fast, God is the bomb!

  6. It is really wonderful to read the inspirations that you guys write everyday. Yesterday nI was trying to post a comment but couldn’t send for some reason, hopefully this will make it. I am truly astonished that you picked up on those flowers because those things I would usually look at and discern something personal tme. While reading you also blessed me with the fact that some people that are attached to me are draining me and God has been trying to redirect me to what He has called me to do but I was still allowing those people to attach themselves to me or vice-versa. Yesterday it was delayed but not denied and that was another thing that confirmed to me that I was on the right track, because I am an older woman with some limited physical disability. Thank you for writing so profoundly. Thank you for writing today and the person who wrote yesterday and the day before should write a book. You are extremely good with effective and descriptive words. You guys are awesome indeed. You are doing God’s work right now. Keep doing His bidding. Diana

    1. God bless you Diana! Your words are encouraging. Yesterday’s writer will be sure to read, so I am sure you blessed her too.

Isn’t the natural world awesome in how God has evidenced His glory? A simple bed of flowers holds so much power that it can change lives.

I am so glad you stopped by to read with us.

  7. Empowermoments messages are always so on time. It’s like my daily spiritual dose. Even when I am in my period of “delay” I will praise him anyhow because my faith lets me know what is about to come.

  8. …and I forgot to say your observation of that flower was magnifique. It was such a beautiful illustration! Loved it!

    1. Thanks Chancee for your compliment. Sometimes it’s the “little” things that God uses for a “big” push.

You are so encouraging to me. Delayed but not denied…………in the meanwhile, Praise Him Anyhow! Congrats on your post being selected yesterday as a WP highlight.

  9. WOW! You ladies at empowermoments are showing up and showing out! This post was awesome! Let me tell you I needed another praise break because God knows exactly what I need. All week I’ve been speaking with human resources because my check is a week short. You know not one time have I snapped or anything I asked God to fix it and I have been calm every since. Usually I’m a fool about my money but God said be anxious for nothing. I have been praising Him through all of this and so many other things! I’m blessed everyday when I read empowermoments but I can see the growth from the very first post! Kay the gift you have with words is so amazing, it has to be a gift from God!

    1. Girl, I used to be a fool about my money too, LOL. BUT GOD…

Last night I was talking to my husband about your comment and I told him that I was shocked that you stated I have a “gift” with words. I feel I don’t actually write as well, and I ramble, lol. But your encouragement gives me strength to keep doing what I’m doing………letting God pour.

      Thanks for reading!

  10. Kay I had to come back and re-read this post. After having a talk with someone last night regarding their negative family members, I thought of your profound revelation from the flower bed. What I like most about the flowers that are growing in a different direction is that they are still apart of their “family” but they refuse to let their family’s dead situations dictate how far they go or grow.

I agree with Sheka…you are truly gifted from God!

  11. Girl, I tell ya……….God can do something with a vessel so free, i.e. those flowers!

I’m glad this post blessed you. I read it and became blessed myself, God is the bomb.org
