Are You Strapped?

I know what you are probably thinking…Well much to your surprise I’m talking about being Holy Ghost strapped!  There is no need to bring guns or knives to a spiritual battle because the trick to winning is having God on your side.  Consequently, every day we are blessed to wake up we are forced to go to war with the world.  As quick as God can give you breath in your lungs, the devil is plotting ways to make it your last.  That is why it is imperative that every time we make a move in the natural, we are spiritually STRAPPED!

Recently I officially made a promise to God that I would start my days by communing with Him first.  I was going strong, praying each morning without hesitation, until one day I woke up and began my daily routine minus that key component.

After running several errands, I decided to stop over a friend’s house that I hadn’t seen in a while.  As soon as I entered the door I sensed a bit of hostility from her family member, but I chose to ignore it.  The atmosphere grew more tense the longer I stayed and conversed with her.  Before I knew it, I was engaged in a heated debate with her relative that was quickly turning sour.  Next, I was calling this man everything BUT a child of God!  Once I realized that I had allowed this person to take me out of my character I immediately left.  At that point it was too late because the damage was done!

By the time I made it home I was no longer angry at him but instead I was extremely disappointed in myself.  I felt ashamed at the fact that I behaved that way–the way I USED to!  I wondered how God felt about the ugly things that I screamed during my tirade. I was saying things that I USED to say without thinking twice!  I was even more confused that I was able to regress to that state of mind so easily considering all the spiritual progress that I had made thus far.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God so that you can take a stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:10-11 NIV)

Amidst all of my uncertainty, a thought ran across my mind that I was unable to disregard.  “I didn’t take a moment to STRAP up today!”  The enemy knew that my spirit was weak because I was too busy to guard myself that morning.  Ladies, if you didn’t know, now you do–spiritual warfare is real! Each day that God gives us is one more day satan is trying to steal from us.  Therefore, we have to take a moment out of our hectic schedules to suit up in the full armor of God!  He is ready to cover us from head to toe, but the question is will we make time to protect ourselves?

Dear Daddy,

Please forgive me for not making time for You to dress me in Your armor.  Help me to make OUR time a priority at the start of my day so that I am protected throughout the day.  I know that You have plans for me that the enemy is trying to destroy, but as long as I am under Your covering those mischievous attempts are null and void.  Have Your way Lord.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Ladies, I EMPOWER each of you to STRAP up every morning.  We may think that it’s just an ordinary day, but the enemy believes otherwise.  Spending a few moments with Jesus in the AM can help you avoid crazy situations because your ammunition will be locked and loaded! Be Blessed! 🙂

  1. Latasha!!!
Thank youuuuu!! With eyes wide open now, I understand the high importance of making sure I’m fully covered with God’s armour every morning. You definitely spoke to ME my Sister, when I read your line about making sure we make the time in our hectic/busy schedules to sit and speak to God each and every morning. With sincerity in my heart I have to say that I will definitely make my mornings from now on, OUR time (Father God & mine) <3. Thank you for your post reminding us all that spiritual warfare and dark principalities are real and that we NEED to ask God to cover us always. God bless you and keep you!!!!

  2. Tasheeeee! This is for ME! I have this struggle every morning because I plan to get up at 5 to read my Word and spend some time in prayer but I can never let my pillow go. My sleep and I have a serious love affair and its affecting my relationship with Him. But Im taking notes from my lil sister and asking God to help me spend more time with Him.

Also, the fact that you felt soooo bad (with yourself) after your encounter is evidence of your growth. Im so proud of you and excited about your future!

    Great Job! Love ya!

  3. Tasha wonderful post. I had an encounter @ 2weeks ago with my dad’s girlfriend. I knew and was aware to calm down and sit and talk to God. I disregarded that and ended up pulling my dad out of his car and beating him really bad in public. People had to come and restrain me. I know we are to honor thy mother and thy father but at the time I felt like the damage done he needed to pay. I am grateful that I wholeheartedly asked God for forgiveness. I have been praying about my temper everyday. God has been with me and he let me know what I need to do to work on this. Thanks hun……

  4. Tasha I also struggle from time to time with not strapping up or rushing to fit my time in with Him! I am guilty and when I don’t strap up total chaos breaks loose. Great job! Thanks for reminding me to stop pressing snooze and get up and spend time with my wonderful Savior!

  5. Tasha I have a reminder in my phone that is set to 5:00AM every morning for devotion. My phone buzzes and I hit dismiss EVERY morning. This was soo the word for me because I know that when I spend time with my Father early in the morning it makes the entire day better. Even when I have obstacles I am reminded of whatever lessons I learned that morning. Thanks for reminding me that God requires intimate time with him not for his sake but for ours.

  6. That is such a bummer because I know exactly how you felt!! Your witness was weakened (That’s how I felt when it happened to me). But you know what, God is a God of forgiveness and restoration, we live to fight another day. I thank you for this post because I am reminded that my current battle is not mine, but God’s……….I just need to stay strapped!

    Thanks girly!!

  7. Thanks ladies once again for such an on time message and lesson. He really wants to give us everything we need for today. He is the only one who knows what we need . Going to God gives us the coverage we need along with His wisdom. I don’t always remember to spend that first moment with Him, but He has taught me that I can start my day over anytime with Him and quickly make amends to anyone that I hurt or harm keeping my list short. Again thank you ladies. Have a great weekend to all.
