A Letter From the Editor

Dear Readers,

First off, I would like to thank you for your continued support of EmpowerMoments. We are so delighted at the response that we have received since we revamped this ministry in February of this year. We are excited about what God is doing for and through EmpowerMoments. More importantly, we are excited about what God is doing and will do in each of your lives!

Today I wanted to write to you on a very personal note to EMPOWER and encourage you. Today I can do that because yesterday I was EMPOWERED and encouraged. You see, I was really going through it yesterday. The enemy had been attacking my marriage in ways that you would never imagine. No, not those normal things like bickering and arguing over frivolous things or money matters or family issues or infidelity. But he crept in silently to attack us in a way that we could have never saw coming and we had no idea how to fix it. For the past several weeks I have been crying out to God to fix the situation but it seemed as if my prayers were falling on deaf ears. Not simply because the problem wasn’t fixed, but because I didn’t feel consoled either. At least in the past I could FEEL God’s presence comforting me even if I didn’t see the circumstances change. I was left feeling so empty inside. Yesterday was a breaking point for me. I felt alone. I didn’t want to pray. I didn’t want to worship. I didn’t want to talk about it. I didn’t want to crack open my Bible. I just wanted Him to fix it! As I sat in my seat at service yesterday, the pastor’s words convicted me beyond belief. He spoke of hungering and thirsting after righteousness and really getting into the Word of God. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6 NIV) I felt so empty because I wasn’t feeding myself the way I needed to. This was the wrong time to be fasting from the Word! As the service continued, the pastor moved into our normal altar call. This is moment where you move to the front of the church and meet God on the altar for a personal encounter with Him. You can stand or bow or even lie prostrate in His presence as you seek His face in your own intimate way. Ladies, I NEVER go to the altar. It’s just something that I don’t do. I don’t want people knowing or thinking that my life is out of order. I don’t want them whispering, “Surely, she doing this or that because she is on the altar.” But yesterday…yesterday was different. I desperately needed God to move and my desperate times called for desperate measures. I made my way down to the altar with my 5 year old daughter in tow. We knelt down together and I cried out to God in a way that I’ve never cried out before. My eyes were blood shot red, my nose was running and my breath was probably foul but I didn’t care! I just NEEDED Him so desperately! In that small slice of time, God EMPOWERED me to stand. Later in the evening, the EmpowerMoments team had our monthly prayer call. Again, I did something that I rarely do and that was to ask for prayer. Desperate times called for desperate measures! When my teammate opened her mouth on my behalf, she called down fire and it literally burned up everything that was in direct opposition to my husband and me!

As I write you this morning, I am excited to say that God changed that situation instantly! It was as if all He wanted to know was how desperately I needed Him to do it. I know that each of you has something before God and it seems like He is indifferent about it. He’s making you feel isolated only to draw you closer to Him. This is NOT the time to give up! Keep reading His Word so that you may be encouraged. (Joshua 1:8) Keep worshipping Him so that He knows your relationship is real. (John 4:24) Keep asking Him to do it because He never gets tired of hearing your prayers. (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Find a way to show Him how badly you need Him to move. Consider the woman who had been hemorrhaging for twelve years. I am certain it was not customary of her to run around grabbing the bottom of people’s clothes but she was desperate to be healed! (Luke 8:43-48) Do something you’ve never done and show Him how desperately you need Him!

“You will not need to fight in this battle. STAND firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf…” (2 Chronicles 20:17 ESV)

I pray that this letter has EMPOWERED and encouraged you to stand! I love each of you and you are in my continued prayers. I am excited about your future!

In His Love,

Kristen R. Harris, Editor-in-Chief

Dear Daddy,

I need You so desperately! I need You to move in my situation! I ask that You give me the strength to stand until I see Your salvation. And when I have done all I can to stand, help me stand even longer! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Today, I EMPOWER you to act out of desperation! If you want Him to do miracles and wonders in your life, show Him through your studying, worship, prayers and living just how desperately you need Him.

As an added bonus, here’s Shekinah Glory’s “How Deeply I Need You”

  2. I’m glad God changed the situation dear. It feels good to know when God intervenes and something good happens in others lives whether it be a relative, friend, boss, associate and so forth.

  3. Can you get out of my business please!!!!! I was just in the shower thinking about you. Since I entered the call in the midst of prayer, I did not hear your prayer request. But what God encouraged me to encourage you (before I saw your EM, you beat me to you) was, “What God has put together let no man put asunder.” And sometimes that “man” that’s separating your marriage can even be us, or our jobs, our kids, our attitudes. It doesn’t always have to be an outside things. So I wanted to encourage you to hang……………….but boy was I in for a surprise. This word is so relevant for ME! Thank you, I will definitely be in prayer for me and praise for you!
