I have not had a full night’s sleep all week. I have been going to bed at my regular time around 10p.m. but wake up at 2:30 a.m. not being able to go back to sleep. The first and second nights I went into prayer. In the past, God awakened me from my sleep to pray for someone or if he needed to speak to me through His word. I would quickly submit. The third night I prayed but to be perfectly honest was annoyed. Last night, my exact words were, “Lord, you GOT to be kidding me!” Not getting any sleep all week had truly gotten to me and I had had enough! I talked to a friend and she asked me, “Are you sure that God is waking you up?”
I had to admit that I did not know. The more I thought about the question, the clearer it became. Previously when God awakened me, the day went better. I was full of energy and in peace. This whole week, I have been sluggish, irritable, and have had terrible headaches. My body is tense and seems like my thoughts are completely scattered.
“The Blessing of the Lord, brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it!” (Proverbs 10:22 NIV) The privilege to be awakened by God so that He can talk to you, feed your spirit, be intimate with you is a BLESSING. What I have been feeling is NOT of God.
I did not want to admit that I was under stress because as a SAVED, BLESSED woman of GAWD, I’m not supposed to experience stress. You all know the saying, “I’m too blessed to be stressed!” Lately, I have been under some stress. My school is being phased out so I will be laid off at the end of the school year. Finances are strained and in addition to those things I’ve been dealing with bouts of loneliness. I allowed my issues of the day to become my terrors of the night, instead of speaking life and peace to my situation. I hadn’t called out what was going on in my life, not wanting to complain. Remember, “I’m too blessed to be stressed!” However the Bible says, “Cast all your cares upon him, because he cares for you…” (1Peter 5:7 KJV)
We have the tendency to just accept things that happen to us saying, “God’s will be done…” or “Everything happens for a reason…” Yes, those cliché’s ring true sometimes, however, Gods’ will is NOT for you to be stressed or full of anxiety. God’s will is NOT for you to have sleepless nights. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world gives…Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid…” (John 14:27 KJV) If you are experiencing stress or anxiety in your life, DO NOT ignore it! Call out your situation for what it is. Don’t accept that you’re supposed to deal with it because, “You’re too blessed to be stressed!” CONFRONT the stress, use God’s word to speak to the stress, “… Greater is HE that is within ME, than he that is in the world…” (1John 4:4b KJV) Yes, even blessed people experience stress, however, the blessing is we can speak to our stress and something has to happen. God either will change the situation or He will change us so that we can deal with the situation. Either Way, PRAISE GOD!
Thank You for being our daddy, our protector, our defender, our comforter, our everything. I thank You that I can cast my cares on You and that You hear me when I call. I understand that You never said that I would never be stressed or there would never be trouble but, I praise You that You are always with me to help me through every situation I encounter. I bind insomnia right now in the name of Jesus. I will not experience another sleepless night due to stress. I loose the peace of God that passeth all understanding right now. I know that You are sovereign and that You are in control of EVERY situation. [Expose what is stressing you here] Now that I have exposed what is stressing me, father, I ask that You remove these stressors or change me so that I may able to deal with these stressors as they are without having feelings of anxiety, bitterness, or hopelessness. I thank You because Your will is perfect and EVERYTHING works together for my good because I love You and am called according to Your purpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Ladies, today I EMPOWER you to say the above prayer OUT LOUD and confront your stress! Call it out then speak the Word of God to it!
