Don’t Give Up Now

Almost exactly a year ago, (wow, just realized this) I wrote a blog post entitled “Waterproof”. It was about being uprooted from my norm and comfort zone and following my husband along the  journey he always hoped for. I supported him from day one, but was reluctant to move until God revealed to me the confirmation to go. What I have remembered throughout this year is the confirmation that God gave me on the first Sunday at our new church. The sermon came from the exact scripture written in my blog post, “God told Abram: “Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land that I will show you. I’ll make you a great nation and bless you. I’ll make you famous; you’ll be a blessing. I’ll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I’ll curse. All the families of the Earth will be blessed through you.”(Genesis 12:1-3). The part I hold dear, is that God said He would “bless” me. That means, our needs would be met and all stumbling blocks will become stepping stones to God’s blessings, even if it doesn’t look like it.

About a month ago I started doubting. I awoke in despair thinking, “Lord, our funds are starting to get low, we have a baby on the way, and nothing in our near future is certain.” I went straight to my Word, knowing that God would speak to me, and that He did! I went to  Deuteronomy Chapter 1 and there God showed me two things: 1) Not to give up and 2) what will happen if I do.

In this story, God told Moses to lead the Israelites to a land that He was giving them to possess (Kadesh Bernea). The interesting thing about this country was that it was not easy to get to, it was on the top of a hill (don’t miss that). God commanded them through Moses to go “up” and take possession of the land. God even reminded them,Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 1:21 NIV)

Have you ever had God tell you to take on a task and then the enemy enters in whether it’s through an innocent friend, a financial situation, or a health distraction? You then start to take matters into your own hands.

That’s just what the Israelites did.  Then all of you came to me and said, “Let us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come to.” They left and went up into the hill country, and came to the Valley of Eshkol and explored it. Taking with them some of the fruit of the land, they brought it down to us and reported, “It is a good land that the LORD our God is giving us.” (Deuteronomy 1:22-25 NIV)

This is why it is so important to walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV) Once the Israelites decided to do this, God revealed to Moses that they doubted God’s promises. They sent out spies to “check it out” to make sure that the land was as good as God said it was because previously the people were doubting and shouting that God “tricked” them.

But you were unwilling to go up; you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You grumbled in your tents and said, “The LORD hates us; so he brought us out of Egypt to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us.” (Deuteronomy 2:26-27 NIV) This is how the devil gets into your mind. He causes you to think the simplest distractions are denials.

God showed me that if I lose my faith, the following will happen:

Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the wilderness. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”  In spite of this, you did not trust in the LORD your God, who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go.  When the LORD heard what you said, he was angry and solemnly swore: “No one from this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your ancestors… (Deuteronomy 2:29-35 NIV)

I do not want to doubt when I know God said He will carry me through! I don’t want to miss what He has for me.

Dear Daddy,

Thank You for giving me Your promise and when I began to doubt, thank You for speaking to me through Your Word, reminding me that You PROMISED in the beginning that this was Your will; therefore I will not lack for what I need and You will get the glory. I am thankful beyond words because You specifically gave me this word to encourage me to continue on the path You have given my family. I love You Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Girlfriend, I EMPOWER you to listen to God’s voice. If God told you “xyz” and it begins to look differently than what you imagined remember this: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)  “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:31-34 NIV)

  1. I L-O-V-E this KAY! I’m here too(walking by faith),but I have to say, I feel like Joseph. I got the dream and desire God wants me to have, but others around me are trying to fight me, BUT GOD told Joseph that he was successful, He was with him, and everything that Joseph’s hand touched would prosper so I wrote this down and keep it before me. I also have my prayer partners. Just the other day I had to call my sweet friend Katrina:) for encouragement and prayer. I have realized that you can’t make it on this journey alone and the enemy hate the number 2! Especially, when they agree. Lastly, Tony Evans said something once and I wrote it down and keep it on a sticky note on my computer screen and it goes like this:”When God is silent,He is not STILL! I LOVE YOU KAY AND YOU AND TUTIE(forgive me if I misspelled or got it wrong,I have so many around me expecting) ENJOY YOUR DAY!

    1. How wonderful is our GOD!!!! I just love it when he gives us confirmation after encouragment after confirmation after encouragement. His love just overflows in that way. I am so blessed that you were blessed. His Word is definitely full of promises, we need to remember them.

Which Lisa is this???? (I know about 3, and I am sure Tootie knows about 100, she’s so much more gregarious than me, lol)

You can inbox me on FB if you like!!

  2. I love this, this truly blessed me and gave me so much confirmation and reassurance on something God had instructed me to do, I was literally just doubting yesterday and today, he used you to bring a word. Thank you so much for sharing and for being such a blessing!

    1. Kisha, I’m always overwhelmed when God confirms something through other things and people. It truly shows that He is in every aspect of our lives. Keep pressing on! If He said do it, then the provisions to complete it are already in place. Just stay close to Him to discern His timing. Keep praying…..

  3. kay, i am awed by God and how he can confirm things. i dont always get to read enpowering moments but today was peaceful enough for me to do so. This is what I found. Our sunday lesson this month is entitled “Breakthrough”. Our memory verse for the entire month is Jeremiah 29:11 i was charged to teach my teen class about breakthrough power. and wouldnt you know the training text was Deu. 1 19-36. this is the exact lesson that he gave you! I often worry that i may not translate the lesson they way God wants me to but yesterday i felt on fire! they were riveted to their seats. scriptures i wouldnt think of i did. when it was all over i was amazed that i barely used my notes and how confident i was. of course then the deceiver trys to creep in. i thought maybe i got off the beaten path, maybe God didnt want it to be delivered that way….but he is a liar and i thank God this word is for me also. to press on with visions he has given me. my neice came over yesterday and i gave her the same word. I donot want to be barred from going into the promised land for my unbelief so i will press on with the visions God has given me. thank you Lord, thank you.

    1. God is so divine! He continuously lines up our path with resources and HELP!!! I’ve found that when I ask God to intervene prior to my lessons or presentations, he takes me to an “unbeaten path” as well. It’s seems when my flesh says no, my spirit is being led by God. Stay encouraged Mom, you are definitely speaking truth to those teens!!
