Loving the unlovable is truly a challenge especially when you know your kindness is being taken for weakness repeatedly. You also know that God expects you to forgive. Being in this situation really makes me consider placing my Kingdom citizenship on the shelf, just for a few short moments, and giving this person a piece of my holy-bold mind!! Then the Holy Spirit says…..Never pay back evil with more evil. (Romans 12:17 NLT) or Don’t let evil conquer you but conquer evil by doing good. (Romans 12:21 NLT)
Then I ask what Peter asked….Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!” (Matthew 18:21-22 NLT) Excuse me, Lord? Did You just say what I think You said? I don’t think I heard You. I need another translation. Then Peter came up to Him and said, Lord, how many times may my brother sin against me and I forgive him and let it go? [As many as] up to seven times? Jesus answered him, I tell you, not up to seven times, but seventy times seven! (Matthew 18:21-22 AMP) Forgive AND LET IT GO?! Lord, I still didn’t hear You! At that point Peter got up the nerve to ask, “Master, how many times do I forgive a brother or sister who hurts me? Seven?” Jesus replied, “Seven! Hardly. Try seventy times seven.” (Matthew 18:21-22 the Message)
But God, I DON’T WANNA! I’m disappointed, hurt, and frustrated. I feel used. I don’t wanna forgive. I want to say what I feel. I want to get it off my chest! Why can’t I say what I want? Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the scripture says, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD. (Romans 12:19 NLT)
I’m tired of forgiving! You can’t get tired, Daughter. You can’t afford to get tired. Would you like to be released to tormentors? (Matthew 18:34-35) No, Lord. Would you like for Me not to answer when you pray? (Mark 11:25-26) No, Lord. Would you like for Satan to get an advantage over you? (2 Corinthians 2:10-11) Of course not, Lord! By the way, Daughter, didn’t you say you wanted to be like My Son? Yes, Lord. Well why are you complaining about what it takes to be like Him? Selah (pause and think about it) Ouch, Ouch, Ouch! But God, I DON’T WANNA!
Please help me to forgive those that constantly mistreat me. You said ALL things will work out for me so I trust You. I command unforgiveness, bitterness, and resentment to loose me now in the name of Jesus. I thank You Lord that I always forgive like You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Ladies, I EMPOWER you to FORGIVE and LET GO! God is not caught off guard by what happened. Ask Him for healing and deliverance, and then walk in it! Confess your hurt, pain, and disappointments in prayer to God; this releases Him to remove them. I EMPOWER you to go through this process so you can be transformed into His image!
Who or what do you have to release right now to God? Ask God to give you His grace to forgive others and yourself, if needed.
