As I patiently waited for my train to arrive, I pulled out my notepad and pen to write my EmpowerMoment. I thought back on my week in search of something juicy to write about. I went through this week’s events in my mind for a possible story. “Um that’s not good enough.” “Hmmm that’s not interesting.” “That’s wacktastic.” “Shoot I have writer’s block.” Needless to say, I had a pretty boring week. I became frustrated and thought maybe I should’ve prepared more. I said a short prayer for direction on what to write about and then it clicked. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and He will direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)
Have you run into a stumbling block in your life, but tried to jump the hurdle alone? Well a couple of months ago this was my story. I had just moved home from college, unemployed, up to my waist in debt, with no direction, and frightened about my future. After months of frustration about not feeling prepared, I went broke. I cried out to God for direction. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5 NIV)
It was one week after crying out to God that I was hired for two jobs I had prayed for. I was called for an interview at a very prestigious law firm in downtown Chicago and I now feel more confident about my admission process to law school. “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over.” (Psalms 32:8 NIV)
I placed my pride aside and realized that I can’t prosper without God and when I stumble upon a block, I must call on him and seek His help. For God is a present help in my times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1 KJV)
Thank You for Your everlasting grace and mercy. Thank You for Your direction and the ability to recognize Your will. I pray for Your direction every day I walk this earth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Ladies, today I EMPOWER you to hand your situations to the Utmost High. God placed us on earth to prosper. Trust Him and believe that His way is victorious!
How do you prepare for anticipated stumbling blocks?
