God Will Give You A Second Wind!
But my servant Caleb—this is a different story. He has a different spirit; he follows me passionately. I’ll bring him into the land that he scouted and his children will inherit it. (Numbers 14: 24, MSG)
I was listening to a song called “A Second Wind” by Donald Lawrence. As I listened to the words the interlude really ministered to me. Donald Lawrence discussed Caleb from the Old Testament. I wanted to know more about getting my second wind because I know God has promised me some things and they seemed hopeless a month ago.
Caleb was a spy when Moses was the leader of the children of Israel. Caleb was one of 12 spies that Moses sent to spy on the land of Canaan that God had promised them. When they made it to a mountain to look at the land they saw walls, fruits and giants. When they made their arrival back to Moses and the children of Israel, the other spies began to tell them that yes the land was beautiful and yes the land was filled with vegetation but there were giants. The spies told the people that they were grasshoppers compared to the giants and they would surely die. Caleb stopped the spies and the people and told them they would be fine and they will be able to receive the land that God promised them. They proceeded to say that they should have stayed in Egypt but God brought them to the wilderness to die by the hands of the giants. How many times have God promised you something and as long as it’s seems like everything is going good you are happy? When the situation gets hard you would rather stay where you are than weather the storm.
God became angry with the spies and the children of Israel. He said that they would never see Canaan the land that He promised. He would destroy them with diseases but Caleb would live to place his feet on the land that God promised Him. Caleb was faithful and didn’t really care what the people looked like or how the other people were complaining he stayed faithful. The good news was Caleb did inherit the land 45 years after the promise. Caleb was 85 years old when he received what God promised. Caleb said that he still was as strong then as he was the day that God made the promise 45 years earlier.
Caleb said that As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. (Joshua 14:11, MSG) I am going to be around for my second wind. I want that breath of fresh air so that I can receive everything God promised me. I don’t know about you but God promised me some stuff and I am going to get what He has for me.
I am walking away from the crowd. I don’t want to be like everyone else and miss out on what God has for me. I want to be faithful to get my second wind. I want to see my promise land. You are going to miss out if you are complaining, rushing God, putting an expiration date on God, or going with the crowd.
Not only do you need to wait for God to give you a second wind you need to be faithful. Stop getting on your knees begging God to fix it, begging God to restore it, begging God to heal you, begging God for finances, begging God for a job, a car, a house, more of Him and yet you are not even faithful. People look to God to say “POOF” it is done but are not willing to present themselves as a living sacrifice. You have to change from your wicked ways so that you can reap your harvest. You have to stay faithful and God will give a second wind!
To get the complete story please read Numbers 14 chapter and Joshua 14.
Thank You for always keeping Your promises. God continue to teach me to stay faithful through adversity and obstacles while You are preparing me for my promise. Thank You God for teaching me that just because my promises are not being fulfilled when I want them to, if I stay faithful you will give me a second wind! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Ladies I EMPOWER you to stay faithful and believe that if God made a promise to you, that it is going to come to pass. Remember that your journey is not going to be easy but if you stay faithful you will have the opportunity to sit back and watch God fulfill His promises. I dare you to trust God and don’t waver in your faith when your promises are not fulfilled and it is convenient for you. Remember if God made a promise He will give you strength to receive your inheritance.
Take a minute to tell us about you being faithful so God could give you a second wind
