Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. (Hebrews 10:23 NLT)
I have spent most of this past week in serious prayer and searching the promises of God as I come very close to closing on my first home. Since April of 2011, my husband and I have been house touring to purchase a home. I would not be exaggerating if I told you that we have toured over a 100 homes since then. We have placed multiple offers during that time, been out-bidded, spent hundreds of dollars on home inspections, and many other things. I have great news though; we are in preparation to close soon! Yes, our journey as home buyers is coming to an end and our journey of being home owners is about to begin! Let me tell you, it has not been an ‘easy- breezy’ journey. There were nights when my faith was weak and my vision was blurred. Along the way I have also encountered and even yielded to doubt, fear, and anxiety–those very things that the word of God tells us to not give into. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Just last week I was falsely accused of something I didn’t do, that would have positioned me to not been able to purchase my new home. I was in complete despair and in need of the Lord’s intervention. He came through, but only because of faith. I knew that I wasn’t guilty of the accusations, but they had the power to cancel everything we had worked so hard to attain. That motivated me to believe the Lord and His word. I could’ve given way to doubt, fear and anxiety, but instead I chose to place my trust in God and stand on His promises.
The Holy Spirit reminded me of Isaiah 54:17: “But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken! (NLT) My faith was immediately strengthened. I began to think about where else could I allow this strengthened faith to show up in my life. I only have a finite number of hours in a day and not walking in faith is too costly!
