Achieving Greatness

This past weekend all eyes were on Hollywood for the Academy Awards. Every year I make it a point to watch the Oscars. It’s not about the fashion or celebrities for me. I truly enjoy film, and I love to see the great works of cinema celebrated. It’s the same reason why I watch the Super Bowl, the Olympics, and the NBA Finals. Watching people who excel at their craft, put forth their best efforts, and strive to achieve the highest honors in their fields is inspiring. So many of us watch these events marveling at the talent and skill displayed. We root for our favorites and watch them live out their dreams.

Yet, God has placed the seeds of greatness within all of us. Greatness is not just reserved for only a select few. He doesn’t play favorites. The Lord doesn’t have a VIP list. He created us all with His own special plan of excellence. All of us can reach the fullness of our own potential and be inspirations to those around us.

The problem is, so many of us get stopped or sidetracked on the journey to the fulfillment of our dream. I know I struggle with procrastination. I second-guess myself. I start one thing, change my mind, and then begin another. What’s stopping you?

In order to fulfill a dream, one has to have focus, diligence, discipline, and drive. It takes sacrifice and hard work to achieve greatness. Too many of us don’t reach the goal because of distraction, disappointment, or the enemy’s deception along the way. But God has already told us that we are more than capable of reaching our dream with Him.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee… Jeremiah 1:5 KJV

God has an expected end for you. He created you with the end in mind. He knew from the beginning your purpose and your calling. He made you ready to take on, achieve, and excel in your dream. All you have to do is walk it out.

Don’t allow the cares of life to keep you from achieving greatness. Don’t let your own thoughts of negativity subvert God’s great thoughts concerning you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made! (Psalm 139:14) You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! (Philippians 4:13) Don’t give up on your dream. Keep working towards your purpose in God. You were created to reach your goals.

Dear Daddy,

Thank You for creating me for a great purpose in You. As I work to achieve my dream, help me to handle any distractions that come my way. Help me to stay focused, motivated, and encouraged knowing that You created me with the ability to live out Your plans for my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Today, I EMPOWER you to live out your purpose in God. You can move past previous failures, and you can overcome procrastination. You have God’s greatness on the inside of you! Your purpose is not just a wish or a hope; it is your destiny in God and you can achieve it!
