Step Into Faith!

Has God been asking you to take some steps that seem impossible?  Right now the Lord is pressing me to take some steps of faith, and I’ve been hesitating. Why? Because I’m not sure if I can really do it. My head knows that I can do all things through Christ, but my heart… Honestly, I am really trying to get my heart in faith mode.

When the disciples saw Jesus walking on water in the midst of a storm one day, Peter grabbed onto faith and asked Jesus for the ability to walk on water too.

Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. (Matthew 14:28, 29 NLT)

In that moment, Peter had a clear vision of who God was and what He is able to accomplish. Peter put his faith out there, and when Jesus told him to walk on the water, Peter did just that. Can you imagine how exhilarated Peter must have felt as he walked on water?!

Think about the other disciples who watched Peter step out in faith. Anybody seeing two men walking on water is going to have a piece of them longing to participate too. Who would pass up something so amazing? The disciples had the same opportunity to look to Christ and step into the miraculous as well. I’m sure Jesus would not have excluded them.

So, what kept them from getting out of the boat?

I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing that’s trying to keep me from answering the Lord’s call in my own situation: unbelief. Even though I claim to know that with God all things are possible, I’m not turning that claim into faith. If I really believed God’s word, I would follow it. No questions asked.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (Hebrews 11:1 NLT)

Many of us claim to have faith, but our lives reflect something different. It’s time for a change!

What is God asking you to do? What prayers have you prayed where God has given you the answer, but you still have to move?

Today, get on out the boat and step into faith!

Dear Daddy,

I am sorry for not trusting Your word. Thank You for Your grace and mercy that is always new towards me. Help me to get out of unbelief and into faith. I know You will not ask me to do anything that I am not able to fulfill. Show me how to get out of the boat and walk into what You’ve called me to do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Today, I EMPOWER you to get out of the boat! You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! You are an overcomer! You are destined for greatness in God. Whatever plans the Lord has given you, He will establish them as you are faithful to obey His word.

  1. Thank you Tiara,
Thank you God for this EM! I needed this at this very second. Literally I was thinking about how I need God to work my situation out for my good and He has already given me the plan. I just have to literally start walking!
