Choose Hot or Cold!

The last two weeks have been very trying for me. I felt like the walls were closing in on me and I couldn’t figure out why. So much chaos was happening with people close to me and on my job that I decided to take a back seat and simply watch the drama unfold. I thought being neutral was the right thing to do. One of my students was suspended because he was being defiant and accidentally hit a teacher. Even though he was my student, I felt the administration was handling it  and it was no longer in my hands. The next day his mother sent him to school because she received an anonymous call telling her that it was an accident. Even when I heard this I paid it no attention because it wasn’t me. I decided to stay neutral.  When I was addressed by my boss it seemed as if someone was trying to be spiteful and undermine her authority. All I could do was shrug and say, “It wasn’t me; I am neutral and I stay out of things.”

Throughout my life I have always considered myself to be a very neutral person. When I was younger I used to listen to the gossip and I felt like people came to me because I was neutral. My thoughts were if I just listened then I wasn’t really involved in the mess. When the opposing person caught wind of the conversations, I was always labeled an accessory to the offense and I didn’t understand why. I was clueless as to why everyone was angry with me and I was just being neutral.

“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!” (Revelation 3: 15-16 NLT) I definitely don’t want to be considered lukewarm in God’s eye sight. I don’t want God to spit me out of His mouth like He does lukewarm water. I am choosing to be on the winning side of God!

Choose Two-Way Road Sign - IsolatedI have realized that it is impossible for me to be lukewarm because I stick out like a sore thumb because God made me different. Trying to blend in with the crowd never works for me when God designed me to win. I am not winning at the pace that God designed for me because I have been trying to be something that was not designed for me — lukewarm.  God created us to choose the side of confidence and authority! “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9 NLT)

Dear Daddy,

Thank You for opening my eyes to what being neutral really entails. Thank You for guiding me to chose the side that leads to You. God, continue to give me the confidence to stand on the right side even when I feel like I should be neutral. As I advance as a mother, wife, minister, friend, daughter, sister, professional and every role that I play in this world, please continue to teach me which side to choose.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Women of God, I EMPOWER you to embrace that you were not created to be neutral. I EMPOWER you to remember that you are peculiar and there is no room for you to be neutral. The only way for you to get what God has for you is to choose the side that leads to Him. I dare you to stop being neutral and mediocre and be the royalty that God created you to be!

How do you ensure that you are choosing God’s side daily?

    1. I am glad that you were blessed! I was blessed when I was writing it. You know and as I comment over a month later I have realized that choosing God’s side is the only side for me. I have tried to choose other sides and it never works in my favor.
