Flashback Friday: My Journey B.C.

Ladies, we hope you enjoy this flash from the past which was originally posted on May 23, 2011

Recently I have been taking a lot of time to reminisce on my life B.C. — that’s BEFORE Christ just like the history books!  My trip down memory lane was a result of several individuals speaking to me about the many mistakes they have made in their life.  These memoirs got me to thinking about the journey that Jesus and I have been on for over a quarter of a century.

rip21I accepted Christ as my personal savior at the tender age of nine but I had no idea that it would take nearly fifteen years for us to get our relationship to this point.  Growing up in church, I learned early that the bible says “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10: 9-10 KJV)  As an adolescent and teen I used this scripture to justify the many sins that I engaged in to feed my flesh.  I had really convinced myself that I was saved so everything I did was irrelevant.  However, the older I grew and the more Jesus grew inside of me, I knew that my shaky faith would not hold up much longer… but I kept running.  Back then my foolery lead me to believe that the world had something to offer that Jesus could never provide.  I was so consumed with making myself feel good that I never thought about how God must feel during all of this.

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4 KJV) A few years later at my best friend’s college graduation, the commencement speaker read that bible verse aloud and it struck a nerve.  At that point in my life God had watched me make many mistakes, carried me through several hard times, and continued to love me no matter what!  However, it was time to for me to embrace A.D… Life AFTER the death of my flesh!  I had allowed my flesh to control my every move but God was there the entire time simply waiting on me!

Dear Daddy,

Thank You for every stage of my process.  My claim to Christian fame may not be like the next person’s but it adds credibility to my story!  I thank You for the B.C. period because it made us grow closer.  I thank You for the A.D. period because it has strengthened my love, honor, and faith in You!  Lord, I ask that You help me to always remember where I have come from and that you delivered me from that dark place.  Thank You Lord! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Ladies I encourage you to EMPOWER yourself to reflect on your Christian journey thus far and celebrate every moment.  A mistake to us is just an opportunity for God to move closer.  So open your arms, heart and spirit and let Him in.  Have a Blessed week!
