Independence Day

On today in 1776, the United States declared its independence from Great Britain with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As a federal holiday it is celebrated all over America with barbeques, picnics, parades, fireworks and many other types of celebrations. This freedom celebration is an important part of American history in which many show their patriotism and excitement. Stores take advantage by having special sales, families indulge in vacation and family time and many offices and businesses are closed in observance.

Here’s something to think about. From what have you declared independence? A broken relationship?  A dead end job? Whatever it is, it is something to celebrate! It is a part of your personal testimony and not only benefits you but others with whom you share it. We have all overcome something and all have various “independence days”. I think my greatest independence day so far was when I declared independence from the fear of having another baby after surviving a horrendous stillbirth experience.

From what do you need to declare independence? A bad habit? Financial despair?  Low self-worth? What are you dealing with that’s holding you down? Grief? Sickness? Disappointment? What’s keeping you from truly being free? Anger? Stress? Unhealthy living?

Many things in life can hinder and bind us but John 8:36 reminds us if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Today’s EmpowerMoment is to encourage you to reflect on where God has brought you from and to EMPOWER you to loose the chains that have you bound and break free. With God we can be free but we must first be true to ourselves about our problems and situations. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 NIV)

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37) We can do and be who God has called us to be with His help. Consider what grips the enemy has defeating you and assess what you can do to be free of him and stay free of him. Many times it starts with you making a decision. This is your first step in your personal “revolution” towards your “independence day”! Happy 4th of July!

Dear Daddy,

With You all things are possible! Thank You for helping us break free of the things that have hindered us. We now ask that You help us break free from the things we are now struggling or dealing with. Only You know the true issues of our hearts and every detail of our situations. With Your help we declare independence from our strongholds. Thank You Father for the victory! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Independent women, I EMPOWER you to celebrate your victories and share them with others. You never know how it may impact them. For those moving toward independence, I EMPOWER you to stay in the battle because with God’s help you can and will win the war. Finally, I EMPOWER you to do a self-assessment and look where you’ve been and decide where you want to be and strive to get there! There is an “independence day” around the corner for all of us in some area. Praise God! That is something to celebrate!
