I am a pessimist by nature. I do not automatically see silver linings in every dark cloud. The happenings of my life are usually not blanketed with rainbows and smiling suns. It’s not my default to look for positivity in everything. I often plan for the plan to fail.
As a Christian, however, I have to continuously renew my mind into a mind of faith in God. I am a child of the King. He has a divine purpose and design for my life.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV)
Despite my nature to not get my hopes up too high, God has thoughts of bringing me to a peaceful place in Him. He has an expected place that He wants to bring me to. If God is thinking great things about my life, why should I not change up my thoughts as well?
If God is bringing me to an expected end, I should see that everything He allows to occur in my life – good or bad – is bringing me closer to that place. In that, I should have an optimistic attitude. I should be expecting that end that God has for me, not looking to be disappointed. In that, I have to change up my faith.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 KJV)
My carnal self is hard wired to have faith in failure. My sinful nature wants to believe that, more often than not, bad things are going to happen. It wants to depend on things not working out, and my being disappointed in the end. However, I have been redeemed, reborn, and renewed through Jesus Christ! My nature has to be transformed into His image, and that means getting the God-kind of faith.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 KJV)
My pessimistic nature has to give way to the optimistic faith that obtained my salvation. I have to change up the way I think, and really believe that God is who He says He is. God is good all the time.
Dear Daddy, Please help me to remember that You have great things in store for me. Help me to see You working even when things may not be going according to how I think they should go. Strengthen my faith, and help me to trust that You are working all things together for my good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Ladies, today I EMPOWER you to change the way you think and to grab hold of the God kind of faith. No matter what happens around you, God is working everything together for your good! You can rightfully expect the blessings of the Lord every day of your life!
What are you expecting God to do for you? Make your declaration below!
