June is Black Music Month! To celebrate, each of our EmpowerMoments will be based on Black music for the entire month. This includes Black songwriters, producers or performers. Stay tuned as we use various genres of Black music to tell our stories and exemplify the beauty of God’s love! He can be found virtually anywhere if we earnestly look for Him and listen intently! Happy Black Music Month! Dance as if no one is watching!
If you’re perfect, make some noise!!! Silence… Every once in a while I have to remind myself that though I may strive for perfection, I’m not perfect and neither is anyone else! Imagine that!
As it is written; none is righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3:10 ESV)
The Walls Group song Perfect People affords the following reality checks:
-My very best is good enough.
-No one sin is greater than any other sin, so I have no right to judge.
-I may not have all I want, but I have all I need.
-God never said life would be perfect.
-If I was perfect, then I wouldn’t need God and that’s impossible.
If you’re a miracle today and God has always made a way
If you have food to eat, a place to sleep and you really can’t complain
This song is for you
After everything you’ve been through
This song is for you
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (II Corinthians 12:9-10 ESV)
Thanks for Your perfect love. Thanks for Your perfect grace. Thanks for Your perfect mercy. Thanks for Your perfect power. Though I strive to be more like You, thanks for not making perfection a criteria for everlasting life with You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Ladies, I EMPOWER you to give yourself a reality check in regards to how you view yourself and how you view others. May God minister to you as you listen to the song, Perfect People.
What reality checks have you had in regards to perfectionism?
