June is Black Music Month! To celebrate, each of our EmpowerMoments will be based on Black music for the entire month. This includes Black songwriters, producers or performers. Stay tuned as we use various genres of Black music to tell our stories and exemplify the beauty of God’s love! He can be found virtually anywhere if we earnestly look for Him and listen intently! Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted to the earth. (Psalms 46:10 KJV)
If you received a letter from God telling you to be still, what would you do? Would you ignore it, would you say, “yes I will,” but deep in your heart you know you won’t, or would you actually Be Still?
Dear My Child,
Slow down, come close and listen
It’s been a long time since we’ve gotten together like this
And I really miss you. I told you, you could talk to me
But it’s easier for you, I see
For you to rush, and get in a hurry, to be anxious and to worry
Instead of coming to me and remaining in my safety
You’d rather do it all yourself
But you know you need my help
Be still and know, just be still and know
I will never leave your side
I will never make you cry
You’ve got to know I already know
The plans I have to make you thrive, give you hope and peace of mind
You must be still.
I’ve found myself in this situation time and time again. In Philippians 4:6-7 it says to not be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.
I know, but sometimes I’m so anxious I make myself nervous. Sometimes, I think I’m super woman with a bright red cape on! When actually I’m running in circles, worrying and being anxious for nothing. Yet God desires for me to draw near to Him and to rest in Him, and from there He can lead me and guide me! Truly this song, by Yolanda Adams, “Be Still” was just for me.
I’m learning to be still. Be still in my mind, Be still in my heart, Be still in my emotions and wait on my Heavenly Father to guide me. For I know the plans for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)
I know my mind runs on overdrive sometimes. Please teach me how to listen to You and how to be still so I can hear You. Give me the wisdom also to know when it’s You. Thank You Lord for not giving up on me and for loving me so much. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Ladies, I EMPOWER you to Be Still enough to let God use you and let him work a miracle in your life. It’s up to us. What do you choose?
Please take a moment to let this song, “Be Still” by Yolanda Adams capture your heart with God’s message to Just Be Still!
