I have some big dreams and goals that I want to accomplish! I’m sure many of you who are reading this do too. I think about them often, sometimes I even dream about them. One of my goals is to become a certified personal trainer! Becoming certified will allow me to teach people why it is important to eat right, to stay active by working out, and to simply take care of their bodies. This is a passion of mine because of my own struggles in striving to be healthy and to take care of my own self has affected me in not only my health but other areas of my life, such as self-esteem, so I feel as though speaking about it could lead me to be somewhat of a motivational speaker. Recently I became upset because I had not seen any sign of these dreams turning into a reality. I prayed to the Lord and told Him how much I wanted these dreams to come true because I know He can make them happen. I also talked with my fiancé about them and even cried a little. Then God spoke to me in His word in a few places, and here is what He said:
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can his faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,’ but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? In the same way faith, if it doesn’t have works, is dead by itself.” (James 2:14-17 NIV)
“Idle hands make one poor, but diligent hands bring riches.” (Proverbs 10:4 HCSB)
“The slacker craves, yet has nothing, but the diligent is fully satisfied.” (Proverbs 13:4 HCSB)
After reading these scriptures, I felt convicted because His Word is not foreign to me. I’ve read all this before and said I was going to do better, but I didn’t. So many times we hear God speak to us and tell us what to do, and we even believe in it! However, we fail because we don’t actually apply the Word and add our work to His Word. I had to realize that although I believe I can be a personal trainer and motivational speaker, I have to do more. First I have to start with becoming my own personal trainer and motivational speaker. I’m sure you as a reader can apply this to areas in your own life. How many times have you said you were going to start that business, get that other degree or certification? How many times have you said you were going to start this mentoring program or just volunteer more at your church? We pray to God and tell Him how great our faith is in him to help us accomplish great things, yet we never put in the work. And it’s never an excuse to say you don’t have the resources because God is our resource! Anything He put in you, He will give you everything you need to make it happen. He loves us and wants to make our dreams a reality!
So ladies, I want to EMPOWER you to WORK!!! It’s time to get up and take steps each day towards your goal! Don’t get caught up in daydreaming so much until that’s all you ever do. You will look up and see a year gone by, and while others are accomplishing their dreams, you will be in the same place. There is too much potential inside of you for you to be stagnant. God is waiting to see the good work He started in you completed!
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Phil 1:6 NKJV)
What dreams/goals has God placed inside of you? Take the time to also pray and seek God for those things you must do to prepare for when the door of opportunity opens.
