I’m Tired of Waiting!

You have been waiting for the call back from that dream job after your interview for weeks now. You have been preparing to go back to school or you’ve been in school for years and are ready for graduation. You’ve been single for some years and waiting on the Lord to send your spouse. You’ve been waiting on that family member or yourself to get a complete healing. I can’t name every situation but I’m sure all of you can relate to a similar experience. If you haven’t, you will. It is inevitable in this life you will have to wait. Why do we have to wait? Well although it may not seem like it, waiting has many benefits. The word tells us that,

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Roman 5:3-5

So in waiting we actually are building our character, which is probably needed before we get that blessing so we are better able to represent Christ in our elevation and stay humble. Others times we are waiting because if we were to obtain the blessing before time it might do harm to us, even killed us. I recall a story in Genesis 30 where Rachel wanted a child. This was something she desired a great deal and didn’t want to wait any longer! God gave her this desire and she bore children for Jacob. In the birth of her last child she had difficulty and afterwards pasted away (Genesis 35). Sometimes God knows that the desire you want so deeply may end up killing your joy or peace and become an idol.

So in waiting for whatever it is that you want, be encouraged and know that when the time is right God will grant you the desires of your heart! One of my favorite scriptures I think about when I am getting impatient is Isaiah 40:31. It says,

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Dear Daddy,

I know that You tell me in Your word that You will give me the desires of my heart if I seek You. So help me to recognize that You know those desire and You care enough about me to give them to me when You know I’m ready for them. Help me to prepare while I’m waiting and to not forget to enjoy this season that I’m in. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Ladies, I EMPOWER you to wait on God. Stop focusing on the desire and focus on the one who will fulfill Your desire and give You more than you could imagine! Enjoy the ride and know that one day when you least expect it he will deliver. He’s never too early or too late. He comes at the exact right moment so be encouraged sisters!
