Many times we go through situations that appear unbearable and impossible to get out of. I can recall a time or two where I felt as though God was not going to save me from detriment, but the mere fact that I am able to sit here and write about it provides evidence that I survived! Dave Ramsey stated something once that hit home for me. He said, climbing the ladder (to success) I heard about God, but on my way down is when I really got to know Him [paraphrased].
I’ve found that it is when I am at my lowest I am able to hear God more. I am reminded by Moses and the burning bush. Exodus 3:2-3 states, “There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up. The King James Version of the Bible uses the word “consumed”. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. Having looked deeper into this message, I noticed three things: 1) the angel of the Lord appeared in the bush while it was on fire. 2) The bush was on fire. 3) The bush was not consumed. I immediately began thinking about God’s faithfulness. I have been in many fires and heated situations, and in most cases I had to deal with them. However, just like that bush, my life was on fire. Here is the interesting part; God was there in the fire with me and I was not consumed, Hallelujah!!
The Three Hebrew Boys were placed into a fiery furnace. The furnace was so hot that it “consumed” the guards at the door. Here’s the interesting part, Jesus appeared to them while in the furnace and they were not consumed!
The message is this, many times we will face fiery situations. But because of the presence of God in our lives, we will not be consumed! God may not always remove the difficult issue or situation. He may just join you, while you are there.
Thank You for guiding and protecting me through my difficult situations. Sometimes, I feel as though I am in a fiery furnace. I even feel like I am not worthy to be helped because I am the one to get myself into these situations. But then, I am reminded that if I ask or seek, You will answer me and I will find what I am looking for. Lord, help me to understand that while I may not be delivered from all fiery situations, You will be right in it with me keeping me from being consumed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Ladies, I EMPOWER you to remain still when in the fire. God has shown us in His Word that not only is He in the fire with us, but we will not be consumed!
