Living in the past, concentrating on what went wrong.
Crying over my choices that have wade on me so long.
Wishing I could change what I did before; keeping open a very needed closed door.
Wounds of heartache & pain I’ve touched
Instead of leaning on God who loves me so much
I did it all to myself, I sowed and I reaped.
The storm was so powerful I couldn’t see
I kept wondering why is this happening to me
Then an Angel came and covered me from the storm
Told me this will not last; along with your heartache and pain this too shall pass
My head has risen, my faith is strong; my path to my heart’s desires doesn’t seem as long
With a smile on my face and tears of joy in my eyes
To my dark days, I wave SO LONG
To the gray gloomy skies, I say GOODBYE
And to the devil and his demon who shout
I hold up two fingers and say PEACE OUT!
In 2009, I was in a dark place. My childhood friend was killed in May, a man that had my heart was also killed in May, and in the same month I lost my job. All I wanted to do was vanish. The storm was so powerful that I couldn’t see. However, my outlet has always been writing, and when I wrote the above poem I knew God was there. Life is tough. It is built up of constant situations that want to control our emotions. No matter what may cause your emotions to be on a roller coaster, remember the words in John 16:33 (ESV):
I have said these things to you, that in me you will have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world!
Tribulation is a part of life. Yet, God loves us more than our situations. Trust him! He wants to bring you peace in the midst of the storm and be your peace in the midst of all the turbulence.
I thank You for always being there for me. Please help me when I’m hurt, lonely, confused, angry, or broken. I claim sweatless victories in my life and I give You all the glory. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, AMEN.
Ladies, I Encourage and EMPOWER you to use the gifts that God have blessed you with as an outlet when life throws you a curve ball. Pray about all things and worry about nothing.
In the words of Maya Angelou:
“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
In Loving Memory of Dr. Maya Angelou
