I need some encouragement. I’ve found myself becoming discouraged and disheartened by the things I’ve seen on the news lately. I can’t believe some of the things happening in the world from preventable deaths of young men of color to devastating earthquakes. It is all so troubling, sad and sickening. Why God? What are You doing? I know that none of this would happen if You didn’t allow it, but for the life of me, I don’t understand it. It’s so unsettling. How long will this continue Lord? Haven’t enough people already died God? I love You Lord and I know You love me. What is the purpose of all this Lord? I’m raising two young boys of color right now Lord and I’m fearful of their future. This is breaking my heart! Why does it seem like the bad news is overshadowing the good news all the time? I’m praying God and I know others are too. What is the point of all this? What do you want us to do?
Dear Child of Mine,
My ways are not your ways and my thoughts are not your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). I am the I Am, remember. Nothing goes unnoticed to me. I see all and I know all. I have my reasons for why I allow things to continue the way they do, reasons you can’t begin to understand. You, my child, should pray and not faint (Luke 18:1). You, my child, should not grow weary with well doing (Galatians 6:9). You, my child, should do your part and do what you can to help. If my people would humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear (2 Chronicles 7:14). I have not forgotten you. I have not forgotten any of my children. I have not forgotten Baltimore. I have not forgotten Nepal. I have not forgotten Nigeria. Remember, all things work together for the good of those who love me (Romans 8:28). I love you my child as I love all my children. I am love (1 John 4:8) It saddens me too, the things that have happened, but I will get the victory in the end. You remember that, no matter how challenging it may be. Lastly, don’t forget that I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you, plans for a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Keep praying and keep trusting. Trust in me with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Go in peace my child.
You’ve heard my cry. You’ve heard my plea. Thank You for peace. Thank You for love. Thank You for mercy. Thank You for knowing what I don’t! Thank You for seeing what I can’t! Thank You for being God all by Yourself! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
I EMPOWER you to continue to trust! I EMPOWER you to continue to have faith! I EMPOWER you to continue to love! I EMPOWER you not to give in to defeat! I EMPOWER you not to live in fear! I EMPOWER you to continue to pray fervently! I EMPOWER you to use your gifts, whatever they are, to aid in situations however you can! I EMPOWER you to know that God has not forgotten!
