Surrender It!

“…Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life…” (Romans 6:13 NLT)

One afternoon I was frantically channel surfing when I ran across a documentary about the life of Oprah Winfrey.  I was instantly glued to the television in hopes of getting a few tips on how to become a millionaire.  By the time the credits began rolling my spirit was in an uproar as if I just left Sunday service.  Oprah seemed to hit the nail on the head with each piece of advice that she dished to viewers while relating it to her own life situations.

The most moving part was when she discussed her expectancy of a role in the movie “The Color Purple.”  She knew deep down in her heart that she was going to be in the film but when she never received the call back from the producers she started to get angry with God.  Instead of letting her anger fester, she decided to SURRENDER it to Him.  The next day she received the call she was awaiting and her career took off from there!

“Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.”  (Job 22:21 NIV)

That one segment of the hour plus special spoke to me on so many levels.  Even though I am still shaping my relationship with Jesus, I have come too far not to be able to let it go unto Him.  Just the other day I was enraged because I found out my apartment complex was raising the rent by over $100!  I went on a tirade, complaining that I barely can pay my rent now, not to mention an increase that large.

Ladies, that is exactly what the enemy wanted me to do–feel defeated so that he would have a way in to steal, kill, and destroy.  Just like Oprah, I had to surrender it to God.  We all must come to a point where we no longer gripe about things that are out of our control but instead we should take that energy and press into God’s kingdom.  The instant that we turn it over to Him is when we see a shift in the natural and a blessing is released from above.  The key factor is to remember that God can dream a bigger dream for us as long as we allow Him the chance to.

Dear Daddy,

Please help me to let it go.  When I have done all that I can, help me to give it up to You!  When I feel defeated help me to lay my burdens at Your feet and leave them there.  If I am backed into a corner, help me to submit to You so that getting back on track is a breeze.  Lord, I just ask for the wisdom to know when it is not my battle to fight and the courage to surrender it unto You.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Ladies, take a moment today and EMPOWER yourself to surrender it to God.  Even if we try, we cannot control everything and that is when we have to let it go unto Him.  I am aware that this is not an easy task but what in life really is? I don’t know about you, but if it got Oprah millions I believe it’s worth a shot!! 🙂 Be Blessed!
